Why Am I So Interested In Alignment?

Much of my career has been spent working in corporate strategy and leadership environments where clarity, execution and coherence matter. I’ve worked across boardrooms, strategy workshops and leadership retreats with CEOs and leadership teams navigating complexity, growth and change. And over time, I began noticing the same pattern. Most organisations don’t lack vision. They lack sustained alignment.

On paper, everything can look clear. The vision is there. The strategy is there. The priorities have been discussed. But in practice, interpretation begins to creep in.

Strategy gradually drifts from vision. Urgency begins influencing priorities. Leadership thinking changes under pressure. And because CEOs are usually highly capable people… They compensate. They step in more. They clarify more. They decide more. They carry more. And for a while, it works.
